Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Authorities have recovered the body of 15-year-old Edwin Gonzalez-Rosendo, a swimmer who tragically drowned off the coast of Myrtle Beach over the weekend. Edwin, who was visiting from Shannon, North Carolina, went missing on Saturday while swimming near 12th Avenue South.
According to reports, Edwin was with another swimmer when they both began to struggle in the water. While the other swimmer was rescued, efforts to locate Edwin continued through the weekend. His body was eventually found on Sunday, August 25, around 6:30 p.m. near 18th Avenue South, concluding a joint search operation involving police, fire, lifeguards, and the Coast Guard.
Further details regarding Edwin’s death have not been released, but the Myrtle Beach Police Department is currently investigating the incident.
