19-Year-Old Baton Rouge Resident Kyrin Dotson Tragically Killed in Early Morning Crash on LA 23 in Plaquemines Parish

Plaquemines Parish, LA – In the early hours of August 28, 2024, a tragic accident claimed the life of 19-year-old Kyrin Dotson of Baton Rouge. The fatal incident occurred just after 4:00 a.m. on LA 23, north of Seatrain Road, when Dotson, who was walking across the northbound lanes, was struck by a 2004 Toyota Tundra.

According to the Louisiana State Police, the Toyota Tundra was traveling in the left lane when it collided with Dotson, who was attempting to cross the road. The impact was severe, and Dotson was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Toyota was uninjured and was found to be wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Routine toxicology tests have been conducted on both the pedestrian and the driver as part of the ongoing investigation.

The tragic event highlights the importance of pedestrian safety, especially during low-visibility hours. Authorities emphasize the need for pedestrians to wear light-colored or reflective clothing and to use designated crossing areas. Drivers are also reminded to be vigilant, especially in poorly lit areas, to prevent such devastating incidents.
