79-Year-Old Betty Butler Found Safe After Being Reported Missing in Simpsonville, South Carolina

Simpsonville, South Carolina – Betty Butler, a 79-year-old resident of Simpsonville, who was reported missing earlier today, has been safely located, according to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office. Betty, who suffers from dementia and brain damage, was last seen on Sunday, August 18, 2024, around 4:30 p.m. when she left her residence at 118 Arabian Way in a burgundy Chevy Silverado.

The community and law enforcement were deeply concerned due to her medical condition, which made her vulnerable and in urgent need of attention. She was described as 5’7", 140 pounds, with grey hair, blue eyes, and a distinctive scar on the right side of her neck. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a tan t-shirt and tan striped shorts.

The search for Betty prompted an outpouring of support on social media, with many expressing relief and gratitude once she was found. Abbey Krieg, identified as Betty’s granddaughter, confirmed on Facebook, "This is her granddaughter! She’s been found safe and my mom is on the way to get her." Others shared similar sentiments of relief, with comments such as “Praise God,” from Teresa Lynn Stephens Bone and “Prayers answered!!! God is good!” from Cindy Smothers Jones.

The sheriff’s office has yet to release additional details on how Betty was found, but the community’s quick response and vigilance were crucial in ensuring her safety. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of community awareness and support, especially for vulnerable individuals like Betty Butler.
