Alberta Obinim Murder Shocks Greater Manchester Community as Family Members Fight for Their Lives

Gorton, Greater Manchester – The tragic stabbing of Alberta Obinim, a 43-year-old Ghanaian woman, has left the Greater Manchester community in shock. The incident occurred late Sunday night on Barnard Road in Gorton, where Alberta was fatally attacked by a 22-year-old man, who has since been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The horrifying event has also left two of Alberta’s family members in critical condition. A 17-year-old girl and a 64-year-old man, believed to be Alberta’s daughter and husband, respectively, sustained severe stab wounds and are currently fighting for their lives in the hospital.

Neighbors recall the terrifying night when Alberta was attacked. One neighbor, who heard unsettling sounds outside, described rushing out with her boyfriend only to find a child hiding in the bushes. The child was quickly taken inside for safety.

The Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that the suspect was known to the victims, making this a particularly distressing case for the community. Detective Superintendent Toby Facey expressed his condolences, stating, "We understand that the local community and further afield across Greater Manchester will be rightly shocked and concerned after waking up and hearing this tragic news this morning."

As investigations continue, the area around Barnard Road remains a crime scene, with police urging anyone with concerns to contact local authorities.

The outpouring of grief on social media reflects the community’s deep sadness. On Facebook, Natalie Mohammed shared, "So sad… my friend lives just around the corner from this horrendous situation." Shell Petrie added, "Absolutely heartbreaking. R.I.P. My deepest condolences to all her family and praying they pull through."

Other community members, including Jackie Hookway, Sandra Lloyd-Johnson, and Marie Bernadette, echoed similar sentiments, expressing their sorrow and offering prayers for Alberta’s family.

Funeral arrangements for Alberta Obinim will be announced by her family in due course as they navigate this unimaginable tragedy.
