Alma I. Green of Eastport, Maine, Passes Away Peacefully at 70 After Years of Declining Health

Eastport, Maine – Alma I. Green, a lifelong resident of Washington County, Maine, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, August 12, 2024, at the age of 70. Born on July 20, 1954, in Portland, Maine, Alma was the daughter of James and Marion (Townsend) Seeley. She spent her childhood in Perry, Maine, and later made Eastport her home during her adult years.

Alma had been battling declining health for several years, with the past year being particularly difficult. Despite these challenges, she remained devoted to her family and was deeply passionate about her many interests, including her love for food, music, the Boston Celtics, and Nascar. Alma was also an avid reader and a talented storyteller, known for her enjoyment of sharing “good” gossip.

One of Alma’s cherished hobbies was cross-stitching, a craft she took great pride in. She often donated her handmade items, including pillowcases, to those in need, showcasing her generous spirit.

Alma’s life was marked by resilience. Despite a less-than-ideal upbringing, she created a fulfilling life for herself and those she loved. Her family was her greatest source of pride, and she supported them with unwavering dedication and love.

She is survived by her son, Richard Green (Sarah), and her daughter, Brenda Voisine (Eric), along with her three grandchildren: Keisha, Karina (Olivia), and Dylan, and a great-grandson, Stephen. Alma also leaves behind her sisters, Anna (Gerald) and Rama. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Ellen Rose, and her brother Jim.

In keeping with Alma’s wishes, there will be no formal service or flowers. The family encourages those who knew and loved Alma to remember her in their own special ways. Whether it’s listening to classic rock, smelling fresh-cut grass, or savoring a burnt hotdog, Alma’s memory will live on in the small, everyday moments she cherished.

Mays Funeral Home is handling the arrangements, respecting Alma’s desire for a simple and private remembrance.
