Altona Gators Basketball Club Mourns the Loss of Beloved Supporter Deb Plitcha, Remembered for Her Dedication and Generosity

Deb Plitcha, a cherished member of the Altona Gators Basketball Club, recently passed away, leaving a profound impact on her family and community. Her husband Zyg, along with her children Jessica, Brendan, Damian, and Jake, are mourning her loss alongside the many lives she touched.

For over twenty years, Deb Plitcha was a vital part of the Altona Basketball community. She served in numerous roles, including team manager, team manager coordinator, and organizer of fundraisers and social events. Her dedication and passion for the sport were evident as she was always the first to volunteer and the last to leave any event.

Deb’s generosity extended beyond her formal roles. She frequently opened her home to Gator players, providing home-cooked meals and a welcoming environment. Her kindness and caring nature made her a beloved figure among the young athletes and their families.

The Altona Gators Basketball Club expressed their deep condolences on Facebook, saying, "We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Deb Plitcha, who sadly recently passed away. We send our love and thoughts to her loving husband Zyg, daughter Jessica, sons Brendan, Damian, Jake and their families. Deb will be remembered as a dedicated and passionate supporter of Altona Basketball, with her involvement spanning over twenty years. Deb was always ready to help out, taking on many important roles. She was a long-term team manager, team manager coordinator and always organized fundraisers and social events. Deb was always first to put her hand up and last to leave, a generous soul who opened her home to all, including Gator players who needed a home-cooked meal and somewhere to go and feel safe. Deb will be sadly missed. Our love and thoughts are with her family and friends, may her generous spirit continue to live on."
