Middletown, Maryland – Anna Lee Geisler, a cherished member of the Middletown and Burkittsville communities, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 25, 2024. She was 91 years old. Born on March 14, 1933, in Adamstown, Maryland, Anna Lee was the daughter of the late Charles Wilbur Myers and Ruth Ellen Rollins Myers. She was also the beloved wife of the late Richard Thomas Geisler.
Anna Lee Geisler was a well-known figure in her community, remembered for her devotion to her family, her church, and her community. After graduating from Frederick High School in 1951, she worked for the phone company before dedicating herself to her family and farm life in Burkittsville. She was particularly known for her cooking and baking, and she frequently volunteered at local school and church events.
Anna Lee was a dedicated member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Burkittsville, where she actively participated in church activities and dinners. Her faith and commitment to her community were integral parts of her life.
The church shared the news of her passing on Facebook, stating, "Last night, Anna Lee Geisler died in Christ and has joined the communion of saints. Anna Lee was a beloved part of the St. Paul’s community, and we are blessed to have known her in our journey of faith. Please hold her family and friends in your prayers."
Community members have expressed their condolences on social media. Mary Lou Green wrote, “Such a nice lady,” while Linda Moss commented, “So very sorry.” Valerie Roosa also shared her thoughts, saying, “Such a sweet lady…”
A memorial service to honor Anna Lee’s life will be held at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 5 East Main Street, Burkittsville, Maryland, on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 11 a.m. Friends and family can pay their respects on Wednesday, August 28, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, Maryland. Interment will be private. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Anna Lee Geisler’s legacy of love, faith, and community service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
