Mesa, Arizona – Antonio Marquez-Mora, a 39-year-old man, has been taken into custody following a fatal shooting in Mesa early on August 24, 2024. The tragic incident occurred around 4:45 a.m. near the intersection of Main Street and Mesa Drive, where emergency responders were initially dispatched after a caller reported a possible medical emergency, believing the victim was having a seizure.
Upon arrival, fire personnel discovered that the victim had sustained a gunshot wound. Despite their immediate efforts to provide medical treatment, the victim tragically lost consciousness and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released by authorities.
Shortly after the incident, Marquez-Mora was located in a nearby parking lot and taken into custody. During his arrest, he admitted to the shooting but claimed it was accidental. He has been booked into jail on charges of second-degree murder.
