Born on December 25, 1950, in Monaghan, Archbishop Treanor’s life was deeply connected to his Irish roots. He began his theological journey at Saint Patrick’s College, Maynooth, before advancing his studies in Rome. In 1976, he was ordained as a priest in Saint Macartan’s Cathedral in County Monaghan, marking the start of a distinguished career in the Church.
Throughout his life, Archbishop Treanor served in various parishes across Ireland, including Monaghan, Rackwallace, and Enniskillen, before being appointed Bishop of Down and Connor in 2008.
