Arvada Community Mourns the Loss of Derek Hines, Celebrated Coach and Mentor

Arvada, CO – The community of Arvada is reeling from the loss of Derek Hines, a beloved husband, father, coach, and mentor. Derek, who passed away recently, was a significant figure in the Arvada community, known for his contributions to youth baseball and his impact on the lives of many young athletes.

Derek Hines grew up in Arvada, where he attended Arvada West High School. His talent in baseball led him to play at the collegiate level and eventually be drafted into the minor league franchise of the Chicago Cubs. After his baseball career, Derek returned to Arvada and dedicated his life to mentoring young athletes through his youth baseball organization, Premier West. His influence extended far beyond the baseball field, as he helped shape the futures of countless children in Colorado.

The Hines family, described as a pillar in the community, is now facing an unimaginable loss. As of today, the campaign has raised $8,825 out of its $50,000 goal, with donations coming from community members and organizations such as Diamond Club Baseball.

On Facebook, the community has expressed their sorrow and offered condolences. Kristal Michel shared, "Such sad news. Talan saw Derek Hines since he was 8 years old until he was 14. Thoughts and prayers to his wife, his kids, and his family."

Derek is survived by his wife, Julie, and their children, Brody and Addi. He also leaves behind his parents, Jeff and Gloria, his brother Jason and his family, his in-laws Marlyce and Jerry, and many other relatives and friends. The community is urged to keep the Hines family in their thoughts as they navigate this challenging time.
