Birmingham, Alabama – A tragic incident unfolded at the Monarch Ridge apartments in Birmingham, where 21-year-old Asiaa Alyce Poole was killed during a brawl that was streamed live on Facebook. The altercation, which started near a vehicle and escalated to a breezeway, ended in a hail of gunfire, leaving Poole unresponsive and another man injured.
Asiaa Alyce Poole, a mother of a young daughter, was known for her warmth and kindness. Her unexpected death has left the community in mourning, with many expressing their sorrow on social media.
Ericka Lewis McLendon posted on Facebook, "This is so sad! God bless this young lady’s family. It’s so much going on in these streets!!!! The young & some of the old heads have absolutely no value on life. My condolences."
Another Facebook user, Lana Caldwell, shared, "This is so sad. I lost my son on July 20th to gunfire. Put the guns down is my prayer. We must be the change if it is going to be a change. Stop the ‘I don’t like her, I don’t like him.’ God loved him and her. God loves all of you too."
Despite the incident being recorded and witnessed by many, no arrests have been made. Police recovered numerous shell casings from the scene and later found Poole’s stolen car abandoned. Authorities are urging anyone with information or additional videos to come forward as they continue their investigation.
Asiaa Alyce Poole was born in Birmingham but later moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she was a beloved mother and friend. Her obituary and funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
