Auburn Man Tice Daequan Cobb Fatally Shot by Opelika Police Officer in Tragic Incident at Century Park Apartments

Tice Daequan Cobb, a 26-year-old resident of Auburn, Alabama, was fatally shot in an officer-involved shooting on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the Century Park Apartments located at 1800 Century Boulevard in Opelika. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) confirmed Cobb’s death at the scene in the early hours of the morning.

The tragic incident occurred after Opelika police officers were dispatched to the apartment complex following reports of a suspicious situation. Upon arrival, officers encountered Cobb, who was reportedly armed. According to the ALEA, an altercation ensued between Cobb and one of the officers, which led to the officer discharging his firearm, striking Cobb.

No officers were injured during the incident. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Bureau of Investigation has initiated an inquiry into the shooting at the request of the Opelika police, with the findings set to be submitted to the Lee County District Attorney’s Office once the investigation is completed.
