Augusta County, VA – The community breathed a sigh of relief as Crystal Dawn Yount, who went missing from her Verona residence on August 6, 2024, has been safely located. The 53-year-old woman had been reported missing by a family member, prompting a widespread search by the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office and concerned residents.
The Sheriff’s Office had issued a public alert requesting assistance in locating Yount, describing her as a white female, 5’2” tall, weighing 125 pounds, with black hair and hazel eyes. She had left her home for a walk and did not return, raising alarm among her family and friends.
Upon her safe return, numerous community members expressed their relief and gratitude on social media. Sheriff Donald L. Smith shared an update on Facebook confirming Yount’s safety.
Chynna Thompson commented on the initial missing person post, expressing her surprise at the choice of picture used for the alert. Barbara K. Swisher, Tracy Weidner, and Bill Dodson all expressed their happiness at Yount being found safe. "Glad she has been found," wrote Weidner, while Dodson added, "I’m glad she was found safe."
