Authorities Seek Public’s Help in Locating Missing 59-Year-Old Sung Kun Chang from Virginia

Montgomery County, Maryland – Authorities are urgently seeking assistance from the public in locating Sung Kun Chang, a 59-year-old man from Virginia who has been missing since Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Mr. Chang was last seen at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the 8900 block of Shady Grove Court.

Mr. Chang is described as being 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds, with black and grey hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue pants. He may be driving a white 2017 Acura RDX with Virginia registration plates UKD8997.

The Montgomery County Police Department has issued a Silver Alert in connection with Mr. Chang’s disappearance, signaling the serious concern for his safety. Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 6th District Investigative Section are leading the search efforts and are asking anyone with information regarding Mr. Chang’s whereabouts to contact their non-emergency line at (301) 279-8000, which is available 24 hours a day.

In the wake of his disappearance, community members have taken to social media to express their concern and support. Herul Watampone commented, "A very sad detail of the incident was recorded by an eyewitness." Another individual, Rio Putra Bungsu, referred to the situation as "Horrific footage," reflecting the distress felt by those who have seen or heard about the circumstances surrounding Mr. Chang’s last known moments.

As the search continues, the police are encouraging anyone with relevant information to come forward to help reunite Mr. Chang with his loved ones. The community remains hopeful for his safe return.
