Beloved Foley Middle School Educator Maddy Petite Passes Away After Battle with Cancer, Community Mourns

Foley, Alabama – The Foley community is mourning the loss of Maddy Petite, a beloved educator at Foley Middle School, who passed away after a valiant fight against cancer. Maddy, just 28 years old, was a cherished figure in the community, and her passing has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew her.

The announcement of Maddy’s death has prompted an outpouring of tributes on social media, where friends, colleagues, and community members have expressed their sorrow and shared memories of the impact she had on their lives.

Abby Tait posted on Facebook, "Heaven gained one of the sweetest & most fun-loving souls. Someone that has been there since the beginning of mine and Braxton’s relationship. I will cherish our friendship and memories forever, Maddy Petite. We love you so much & can’t wait for the day that we see you again."

Desiree D Tait shared her grief, saying, "It’s so hard to lose a good friend. What a sweet girl Maddy was… I know y’all will miss her."

Kelli Lores Boots simply wrote, "Beautiful," while Julie Poiroux Bostwick added, "Oh goodness, my girl! This was just precious! I SO love it."

The community continues to rally around Maddy’s family, offering their condolences and support during this difficult time. Katey Noel O’Brien expressed her sympathy, saying, "Abby, I’m so sorry for your loss. I didn’t know Maddy personally, but I have followed her story, and it has been close to my heart like it has to many others within the community. What a beautiful tribute you have made for your dear friend."

Maddy’s funeral services will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Daphne, Alabama, on Saturday, August 31. The visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m. A tombside service will take place at Belforest Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a special education fund has been established for Maddy’s five-month-old son, Harrison Petite. Contributions can be made through the Credit Union of Alabama or directly via Venmo to Leon Petite.

The Foley Middle School community and all who knew Maddy Petite are encouraged to share their memories and messages of support with her family as they navigate this tragic loss.
