Beloved Williston Resident Elihu Ross Passes Away at His Home on His 58th Wedding Anniversary

Williston, Florida – The community of Williston is mourning the loss of Elihu Ross, a cherished member of the First Methodist Church of Williston, who passed away peacefully at his home today at 1 p.m. The day is especially poignant as it marks 58 years since Elihu and his wife, Ann, were joined in marriage.

Elihu was a cornerstone of the Williston community, known for his unwavering faith and commitment to serving others. He was actively involved in various aspects of the community, including his dedicated service as a volunteer with the Levy County Sheriff’s Office’s Citizen On Patrol and his distinguished role on the Williston City Council. His contributions extended beyond these official capacities, as he was also a beloved figure in his church, where his voice and presence left a lasting impact.

The First Methodist Church of Williston shared the news of Elihu’s passing on Facebook, noting the profound sorrow felt by the entire church family. The post mentioned the deep admiration the congregation had for Elihu, reflecting on his life of service and devotion. "It is with great sadness that we tell you that Elihu Ross passed to Glory today at 1 p.m. at his home in Williston," the church wrote.

Community members have also taken to social media to express their condolences and share memories of Elihu. Jeff M. Hardison praised him as "a great man who volunteered as an LCSO Citizen On Patrol and served with honor and distinction on the Williston City Council." Donna M. Buhagiar-Provau, a close friend of the Ross family, shared, "Praying for Ms. Ann. She’s a dear, sweet friend… God got a great one in him. Rest peacefully, Church Granddaddy. We love you."

Others echoed these sentiments, highlighting Elihu’s deep faith and the void his passing leaves in the community. Sherri Shackelford commented, "Our sincere condolences to Ann & family of Elihu.
