Betty A. Diamond of Ocean Springs, MS, Passes Away at 91, Reunited with Husband After 40 Years

Ocean Springs, MS – Betty A. Diamond, a beloved resident of Ocean Springs, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024, at the age of 91. Betty, known for her adventurous spirit and love for her family, leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and travel.

Born on February 27, 1933, in Lawton, Oklahoma, Betty lived a life full of remarkable experiences. After moving to Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, she graduated from Wauwatosa High School in 1951. She joined the U.S. Air Force in 1952, leading to a life of travel and adventure. It was during her time in the military that she met her husband, Robert S. “Jack” Diamond Jr., with whom she married in Harrow, England, in 1955.

Betty and Jack lived in various countries, including England, Libya, and Japan, before settling in Ocean Springs in 1966. Betty worked for 20 years at Ocean Springs Hospital and later volunteered for another decade. She was well-known for her love of pottery and travel, with memorable trips to Alaska, Belize, and even a return to England.

Betty’s passing has brought a wave of tributes and memories from those who knew her. Her daughter, Anne Diamond Middleton, expressed her feelings on Facebook, saying, “I wanted to let everyone know that my fun and adventurous mother has passed. She is dancing in heaven with my Dad, whom she has missed for 40 years! Together again it is a glorious day!”

Other heartfelt messages poured in from friends and family. Kathy Kelly-Sickels shared, “Sorry about your loss. Thinking about you and the family. Prayers that you are comforted by your memories.” Similarly, Becky Seymour Gatian commented, “So very sorry for your loss. Prayers for peace and comfort in the days and weeks ahead.”

Betty is survived by her children, Robert S. Diamond III, Lewis R. Diamond, and Anne D. Middleton, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A reception in her honor will be held on August 31, 2024, at the Treasure Oak Country Club in Ocean Springs, followed by a service and burial.

The Diamond family extends their gratitude to all those who have offered their support and condolences during this difficult time. Betty’s life was a testament to love, adventure, and the joy of family, and she will be deeply missed.
