Bismarck, North Dakota – The community is reeling after the tragic death of Joseph Feser, a 21-year-old resident of Bismarck, who lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Saturday, August 17th, 2024. Joseph, a beloved son, brother, and friend, was also an employee at Costco Wholesale Corporation and a member of the North Dakota National Guard.
The accident occurred around 7:45 p.m. on North 4th Street in Bismarck. According to reports from the Bismarck Police Department, Joseph was riding his motorcycle behind an SUV driven by 83-year-old Harry Bender. As Bender made a left turn into a parking lot, Joseph attempted to pass the SUV and collided with its driver’s side. Sadly, Joseph was pronounced dead at the scene. Bender and his passenger were unharmed in the incident, which remains under investigation by the police.
Joseph Feser was a 2020 graduate of Century High School and was known for his kindness, dedication, and unwavering support for those around him. His sudden death has left a significant void in the lives of his family and friends.
Tyler K. Needham, a close friend and coworker, expressed his grief on Facebook, stating, "Joseph Feser, you made my life so easy this last year. You showed up to work, and you did more than I ever asked. I was looking forward to all of your big life events, and now I don’t get to see any of them. I’m going to miss you more than I can express. I love you, brother."
Other members of the community also shared their condolences on social media. Mary Lou Hostetler Swiscoski commented, "Oh my! He was so young! I’m sure you were a good friend to him," while Claudia Hogfoss added, "So very sorry for your loss!"
Joseph’s mother, Melissa Feser Martwick, and his sister, Danielle, are now left to mourn the loss of a son and brother who cared deeply for the well-being of others. The community continues to offer support to the Feser family during this difficult time.
The Bismarck Police Department is continuing its investigation into the circumstances of the accident, seeking to provide clarity on the tragic events that led to Joseph’s untimely passing.
