Body of Marimar Roman Cora Found in Canal in Sunrise, Florida After Ten Days of Search; Family and Friends Mourn

Sunrise, Florida – The search for 41-year-old Marimar Roman Cora ended tragically as her body was discovered in a canal along West Oakland Park Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon. Cora had been missing for ten days before authorities found her submerged in her black Honda Civic.

Cora, an employee at Tin Fish restaurant in Sunrise, was last seen on August 3rd after leaving work to meet coworkers at a nearby restaurant. Her brother, who wishes to remain anonymous, identified her body, confirming the family’s worst fears.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Cora’s brother shared his grief and thanked the community for their support. "My sister was found in the car, drowned. I’m trying to process this right now; I’m out of tears," he wrote.

Friends and colleagues have expressed their sorrow and disbelief. Joseph Melluso, a coworker at Tin Fish, described Cora as a "dynamic and beautiful person," beloved by both customers and staff. "We deeply regret and offer our condolences to the family; this is a terrible experience," Melluso added.

The discovery of Cora’s body has left the community in shock, and a vigil was held by her family on Wednesday night to honor her memory. Investigations continue as authorities seek to understand how Cora’s car ended up in the canal.

On social media, many have shared their concern and prayers during the search. Won Cora, a relative, posted an urgent plea before her body was found, "PLEASE HELP ME FIND HER POLICE NOT REALLY HELPING ME IM BOUT TO FLIP THE WHOLE FLORIDA BOUT MY SISTER… MARI IM COMING TO FIND YOU WHERE EVER YOU AT." Others, like Yajayra Rojas and Nadine Ellis, expressed their worries and hope for her safe return before the tragic discovery was made.
