Body of Missing Fisherman, Tim Rhyne, Found in Tremont Community’s Cotton Gin Road Lake

Itawamba County, Mississippi – The body of Tim Rhyne, a missing fisherman, has been located in a body of water near Cotton Gin Road in the Tremont Community, as confirmed by the Itawamba County Sheriff’s Department. The search for Rhyne began after he was reported missing earlier this week, and his vehicle, boat, and personal belongings were found near the lake.

The discovery was made on Saturday, August 17, 2024, with multiple agencies, including the Fulton Fire Department, Louisiana Underwater Recovery, and the Mississippi Game and Fish, assisting in the search efforts. Sheriff Mitch Nabors provided an update, stating that no immediate signs of foul play were found at the scene. However, the exact cause of death is still pending a formal medical examination by the Mississippi Crime Lab.

The community and law enforcement agencies have extended their thoughts and prayers to Rhyne’s family during this difficult time. Sheriff Nabors expressed gratitude to the numerous agencies involved in the search, including the Itawamba EMA, Northwest Alabama SAR Dogs, United K9 Services, and several Mississippi Task Forces.

The tragic conclusion to the search for Tim Rhyne has left the Tremont Community in mourning, as they await further details from the ongoing investigation.
