Calvin Bruce, 28, Fatally Shot in South Shore Neighborhood; Community Mourns

Chicago, Illinois – Calvin Bruce, a 28-year-old man, tragically lost his life in a fatal shooting on Thursday in the South Shore neighborhood. The incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. on the 7500 block of South Kingston Avenue.

According to reports from the Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office, Bruce was standing outside with a 30-year-old man when they were suddenly struck by gunfire. Bruce sustained a gunshot wound to the hip and, despite managing to get himself to Jackson Park Hospital, he was pronounced dead due to his injuries.

The second victim was shot twice in the left knee and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he is reported to be in good condition. Authorities have not yet made any arrests, and the investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
