Canton Township Mourns the Loss of Brak V. Hayhurst in Tragic Motorcycle Accident

Canton Township, Ohio – The community is grieving the tragic loss of 47-year-old Brak V. Hayhurst, who was involved in a fatal motorcycle crash late Friday night, August 16, 2024. The accident occurred around 11:15 p.m. at the intersection of Faircrest Street SW and Dueber Avenue SW in Canton Township.

Mr. Hayhurst, a resident of Canton, was riding a black 2009 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on Dueber Avenue when he collided with a white 2006 Subaru driven by 21-year-old Nicole A. Christman, also from Canton. Christman was traveling westbound on Faircrest Street at the time of the crash. Sadly, Mr. Hayhurst was pronounced deceased at the scene. Ms. Christman did not sustain any injuries in the incident.

Emergency responders, including Canton Township Fire and EMS, Stark County Coroner’s Office, and Rupple’s Towing, were quickly on the scene. The Ohio State Highway Patrol, currently leading the investigation, has indicated that alcohol and drugs are not suspected as factors in the crash. It was noted that Mr. Hayhurst was not wearing a helmet, a detail that may have contributed to the severity of his injuries.

The loss of Mr. Hayhurst has deeply affected the local community. Bob Blanke, a community member, shared his sorrow on Facebook, reflecting the collective grief felt by those who knew Hayhurst. The investigation into the exact causes of the crash is ongoing, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward.
