Indio, Calif. – The tragic death of 23-year-old Carlos Arriaga has left the Indio community reeling after a fatal shooting early Saturday morning. The incident occurred shortly after 2:30 a.m. on the 81-600 block of Jennifer Court, where officers from the Indio Police Department responded to reports of gunfire.
Upon their arrival, police found Carlos Arriaga suffering from a gunshot wound outside a residence. Emergency responders quickly transported him to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. Despite their efforts, Arriaga succumbed to his injuries a few hours later. His identity was later confirmed by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
As the investigation progressed, detectives identified 21-year-old Ruben Molina, also from Indio, as the suspected shooter. Authorities located Molina in the 44-000 block of Avenue 44 and arrested him around noon on Saturday. Molina now faces felony murder charges and is being held at the county jail in Indio with bail set at $1 million. His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
