Casa Grande Community Mourns the Loss of Beloved Athletic Director Louis Ramirez II, Who Passed Away on August 8, 2024

Casa Grande, Arizona – The Casa Grande community is in deep mourning following the unexpected death of Louis Ramirez II, the esteemed Athletic Director at Vista Grande High School, who passed away on August 8, 2024. Ramirez was a passionate advocate for his students and athletes, known for his dedication to their well-being and development. His sudden passing has left a significant void in the community, particularly among those who were closely connected with his work at the school.

The Casa Grande Union High School District expressed their sorrow in a statement, highlighting Ramirez’s deep commitment to the students and athletes he coached. "It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of the unexpected passing of our Vista Grande Athletic Director, Mr. Louis Ramirez II. His dedication and spirit will be profoundly missed," the statement read. Dakotah Townsend, a childhood friend of Ramirez, shared his devastation, stating, "One of my childhood best friends. I am devastated." Dave Jewell commented, "He watched over and protected you at the bus stop and school," reflecting the protective nature Ramirez exhibited even as a young boy.

Louanne Sibley added, "I’m so sorry Honey," while Deb Jewell-Cannon remembered how intertwined their lives were growing up, "If he wasn’t at our house in Tierra Grande, you were at his. I’m so sorry Ko! He has always held a special place in my heart!" Dorothy Jewell echoed the sentiment, "My heart is breaking today as I learned about Louie’s passing! Sending love and hugs to his family, friends, and students! May he rest in peace!"

In honor of Louis Ramirez’s life and his substantial contributions to the school and community, a memorial service will be organized.
