Celebrated Quilter and Author Freddy Moran Passes Away, Leaving a Lasting Legacy in Pacific International Quilt Festival and Beyond

Freddy Moran, a renowned figure in the quilting world and an award-winning artist, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Known for her vibrant quilts and influential writings, Moran’s death was announced in a heartfelt Facebook post, leaving the quilting community and her many admirers in mourning.

Moran, who was also an accomplished author, was celebrated for her bold use of color and innovative quilting techniques. Her quilts, often characterized by intricate patterns and striking hues, won numerous awards at prestigious quilting shows and competitions. These accolades highlighted her ability to push the boundaries of traditional quilting, merging classic techniques with contemporary flair.

The Pacific International Quilt Festival and the entire quilting community have expressed deep sorrow at her passing. Quiltfest, the organization behind the festival, honored her by stating, "The Pacific International Quilt Festival and the entire quilting world has lost an incredible Matriarch. We will celebrate her life forever in our hearts."

Freddy Moran’s influence extended far beyond her quilts.
