Clayton County Authorities Search for Missing Woman, Shakir Abayomi, After She Walks Away from Hospital

Clayton County, Georgia – The Clayton County Police Department is actively searching for Shakir Abayomi, who went missing on August 16, 2024, after walking away from a hospital where she had been admitted on an involuntary committal. Shakir, who has been diagnosed with several mental health disabilities, was last seen at approximately 5:00 PM on Upper Riverdale Rd in Riverdale, Georgia.

Shakir Abayomi, described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 135 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, was last spotted wearing green hospital scrubs as she walked eastbound on Upper Riverdale Rd. Authorities have issued a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) and a Mattie’s Call, a state-wide alert for missing elderly or disabled adults, in hopes of locating her safely.

The community has been urged to assist in the search. The Missing Truth, a Facebook group based in Clayton County, posted about Shakir’s disappearance, emphasizing the urgency of the situation. The post reads, “If you know Shakir’s whereabouts, please contact the Clayton County Police Department at 770-477-3550 EXT 8.”

Shakir’s disappearance has raised concerns within the community, and authorities continue to seek public assistance in locating her.
