Columbus Semi-Truck Accident on Interstate 270 Critically Injures One Person, Chief Jeff Geitter Reports

Columbus, Ohio – A serious accident on Interstate 270 East near Sawmill Road critically injured one person on Saturday afternoon, August 17, 2024. The accident, which involved a semi-truck crashing into a barrier, has led to the closure of all eastbound lanes on I-270.

The collision occurred just after 4:15 p.m., prompting a swift response from local emergency services. Columbus Division of Fire Battalion Chief Jeff Geitter, who was at the scene, confirmed that one individual was seriously injured in the crash and was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital for urgent medical care.

Chief Geitter reported that the semi-truck hit a wall or barrier, leading to the severe injury of the person involved. The extent of the road closure remains uncertain, and authorities are working to clear the scene and investigate the cause of the accident.
