Community and Authorities Renew Efforts to Find Missing Man Luke Gourlay in Sunshine Coast Area

Sunshine Coast, Australia — The search for 29-year-old Luke Gourlay, who has been missing since December 23, 2023, continues as police and family members appeal for public assistance. Luke was last seen near Burnside, close to Nambour, and his disappearance has raised significant concern due to its out-of-character nature.

Luke, described as fair-skinned, approximately 180 cm tall, with a slim build, brown hair, and blue eyes, was last spotted wearing a green T-shirt, grey shorts, orange shoes, and a blue hat. Authorities believe he was traveling in a white van with Queensland registration 929CS3, which was found abandoned on Cribb Street in Landsborough on December 31.

Police crews, supported by SES volunteers, have spent days combing the bushland along Steve Irwin Way in Landsborough, following tips that Luke was last seen in that area on December 26, 2023, around 4 p.m. Despite extensive searches, no further leads have been found, and concerns for Luke’s welfare remain high, especially considering his medical condition.

The community has rallied around the search efforts. On social media, platforms like "Shine The Light ‘Missing Persons’ Australia" and "Sunshine Coast Missing Persons" have been actively sharing updates and urging people to come forward with any information, no matter how small.

The Sunshine Coast Missing Persons group posted, "Luke is STILL MISSING. PLEASE REMEMBER that even the tiniest bit of information is helpful in bringing a missing person’s case to closure. We welcome any and all information and messages and would love to speak to Luke’s family so that we can provide more information on him."

The Queensland Police Service has re-issued an appeal for assistance, emphasizing that anyone with information should contact them immediately. The case remains a top priority as the days continue to pass with no new developments.

For those who might have seen Luke or have any information regarding his whereabouts, authorities urge you to reach out to Policelink or report information anonymously via Crime Stoppers.

As the search intensifies, the community’s involvement remains crucial in the hope of bringing Luke Gourlay back home safely.
