Community Concern Grows as Nome Police Search for Missing Matthew Hoogendorn

Nome, Alaska – The Nome community is rallying to find Matthew Hoogendorn, who has been missing since early Sunday morning. The Nome Police Department is actively assisting Search and Rescue teams in the search. Matthew was last seen at his family’s residence off the Nome-Teller Highway around 5:30 AM on August 11, 2024. He was scheduled to fly to Koyuk on Bering Air but did not board the flight.

Efforts to reach Matthew via cell phone have been unsuccessful, prompting concerns for his safety. The Nome Police Department has issued a call for information, urging anyone who might have seen or heard from Matthew to come forward. "If you have any information, please contact NPD at 907-443-5262," the police department stated in a Facebook post.
