Community Expresses Concern Over Suspicious Disappearance of Markham Realtor Yuk-Ying (Anita) Mui

Markham, Ontario – The York Regional Police Homicide Unit is investigating the mysterious disappearance of 56-year-old Yuk-Ying (Anita) Mui, a well-known realtor from Markham. Anita was last seen on Friday, August 9, 2024, when she left her home around 9:30 a.m. She spoke to her family at 11 a.m., but since then, there has been no contact, and her whereabouts remain unknown.

Anita’s white 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE450 SUV was found abandoned later that day near Finch Avenue East and Warden Avenue in Toronto. The circumstances of her disappearance have been deemed suspicious, raising serious concerns for her safety.

Friends and community members have taken to social media to express their worries and prayers for her safe return. Debbie Watts commented, "This is scary… another Asian woman was taken 2 weeks ago. I hope there is a positive outcome for her." Elizabeth Lambert shared, "Prayers and worries! Shared in Stoney Creek, ON."

Several others have shared posts across various regions, including Amy White in Alberta and Christine Caron in the Ottawa/Gatineau area, urging anyone with information to come forward. Pat Proctor-Quast shared her hopes for a safe resolution, posting, "Shared in Englehart! Praying she is found safe!"

The police are appealing to the public for any information regarding Anita’s disappearance. If you have any details that could assist in the investigation, you are urged to contact the York Regional Police Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers.

As the community continues to rally in support, the focus remains on finding Yuk-Ying (Anita) Mui and ensuring her safe return.
