Catawba County, North Carolina – The community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Makayla Linn Mullins, an 11-year-old girl who passed away on August 18, 2024, at Levine’s Children’s Hospital. Makayla, born on April 6, 2013, brought light and joy into the lives of all who knew her. Her untimely passing has left a void that will never be filled.
Makayla was an exceptional student at Lyle Creek Elementary, known for her academic achievements and vibrant personality. Her talents extended beyond the classroom, where she was active in various extracurricular activities including Girl Scouts, school plays, and the school’s TV series, LCTV. Her love for art, dance, and music was evident, as she enjoyed painting, drawing, and creating with her boundless imagination.
Family and friends remember Makayla for her loving spirit, her passion for animals, and her enjoyment of nature. Her interests ranged from exploring the outdoors to spending cherished moments with her family. Her love for fairies and fairy gardens added a touch of magic to her personality, making her a beloved figure in her community.
A service to celebrate Makayla’s life is scheduled for Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the Bennett Funeral Service Chapel in Newton. The family will receive friends the evening before, on August 23, 2024, at the same location.
