Community Mourns the Loss of Former Williams County Sheriff Kevin Beck, Honoring His Legacy of Service and Dedication

Kevin Beck, Bryan, Ohio – The Williams County community is deeply mourning the loss of retired Sheriff Kevin Beck, whose career was marked by a steadfast commitment to service and leadership. Sheriff Beck passed away on August 9, 2024, leaving behind a legacy that has significantly impacted the county and its residents.

Sheriff Beck’s career with the Williams County Sheriff’s Office began in 1984 when he was assigned to corrections. His dedication quickly became evident, leading to his transfer to the patrol division in 1987. Over the years, his leadership and commitment to the community earned him multiple promotions, including Corporal in 1999, Sergeant in 2000, and Chief Deputy in 2003. In 2004, the people of Williams County entrusted him with the role of Sheriff, a position he held with honor and integrity.

In addition to his administrative roles, Sheriff Beck was also known for his work as a K9 handler, where he formed a strong bond with his K9 partner, General. This relationship was one of the many highlights of his distinguished career, showcasing his multifaceted abilities and dedication to law enforcement.

Sheriff Beck’s passing has elicited an outpouring of grief and respect from the community, as well as from his colleagues at the Williams County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Kochert and his team expressed their deep sorrow in a statement, acknowledging the profound impact of Sheriff Beck’s service. "We thank you for the guidance, leadership, and mentorship you provided to many throughout the years. We pray your soul finds peace in your eternal walk and we pray your family finds peace as well," they shared.

The news of Sheriff Beck’s passing also prompted an outpouring of tributes on social media. Bobbi Shaffer wrote, "Prayers for Kevin’s family. May he rest in peace." Brittany Houser added, "How horrible. Praying for the families." Keri J. Croft shared her thoughts, saying, "What a nice tribute to Kevin. RIP." Dana Phipps expressed gratitude, stating, "Thank you for your service. Prayers to the family." Cheree Wyman Terrell reflected on his impact, noting, "Williams County was definitely a better, safer place with this man. Prayers for his family."

Sheriff Beck’s contributions to the safety and well-being of Williams County residents will not be forgotten. His legacy of service and dedication to the community will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of working with him and the citizens he served.
