Community Pleads for Justice in Tragic Shooting of Karol Annette Bolton in Gulfport

Karol Annette Bolton, Gulfport, Mississippi – The tragic death of Karol Annette Bolton, affectionately known as "K.B." by her loved ones, continues to weigh heavily on the community. Karol, who was only 18 years old, was shot and killed at a party at the O’Neal Road Apartments in Gulfport on September 7, 2013. The promising young woman was pursuing her dream of becoming a nurse, already enrolled in classes at MGCCC Harrison County.

Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers has recently intensified efforts to bring justice to Karol’s case. The organization urges anyone with information about the night of the shooting to come forward. They offer the opportunity to share details anonymously through the P3 Tips app or by calling **Tips, with the possibility of receiving a cash reward for information leading to a felony arrest. The Gulfport Police Department remains in charge of this ongoing investigation.

In April 2024, as part of a broader initiative to solve cold cases, Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers launched the state’s first set of playing cards featuring unsolved homicides and missing person cases. Karol’s case is among the 36 homicides highlighted in these cards, which have been distributed in jails and prisons across several counties, including Jackson, Harrison, and Pearl River. This initiative was made possible through a grant from Season of Justice, a nonprofit organization dedicated to aiding law enforcement and families in solving cold cases.

The community continues to rally around Karol’s memory, hoping that new information will emerge to finally bring justice and closure to her family.
