Community Rallies to Support Funeral Costs for Bessie McEntire, 101-Year-Old Jonesboro Resident

Jonesboro, Arkansas – The community of Jonesboro is coming together to support the family of Bessie McEntire, a beloved 101-year-old resident who passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by her daughter, Lesa Dacus, to help cover the unexpected funeral expenses.

Bessie McEntire spent her last 11 years in a nursing home, where she was known for sharing her deep faith and positive spirit with everyone she encountered. Despite having paid premiums on five life insurance policies since 1994, totaling over $10,000, it was revealed that these policies currently hold no value. This unfortunate situation has left the family without funds to cover the costs of McEntire’s funeral and burial.

The fundraiser, organized by Lesa Dacus, aims to raise $7,569 to cover these expenses. As of now, $680 has been raised from nine generous donors. Dacus expressed her gratitude for any support received, whether through donations or prayers, highlighting that her mother’s memory deserves a proper tribute.

Donors have included individuals like Sandra Bevill and Juan Garcia, each contributing $50, and Janet Ramsey, who donated $150. Dacus has also welcomed direct donations to Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro for those who prefer to contribute in memory of Bessie McEntire.

The community’s response reflects the impact that Bessie McEntire had on those around her, and her family hopes to honor her life and legacy with a fitting farewell.
