Community Rallies to Support Funeral Fund for Brendan Wilson in Munson, Michigan After Tragic Drowning

Brendan Wilson, Munson, Michigan – On Sunday, August 18, 2024, the community of Munson, Michigan, was shaken by the tragic drowning of Brendan Wilson. Brendan, who was known for his love of tennis, football, and his vibrant spirit, tragically lost his life while trying to help a friend who was struggling in the water. Despite the valiant efforts of his friends and emergency responders, Brendan passed away, leaving behind a grieving community.

In the aftermath of this tragedy, a fundraiser has been organized by Katie Zess to help Brendan’s parents, Steven and Janell, cover the expenses of laying their son to rest. As of today, $370 has been raised out of a $10,000 goal, with donations continuing to come in from friends, family, and the broader community.

Katie Zess, who is leading the fundraising effort, shared her thoughts on Facebook, urging people to contribute: "Please share and consider donating if you can. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated!! Can’t believe this is reality. Want to wake up from this nightmare!"

The tragic event unfolded during what was supposed to be a fun weekend among friends. Brendan, true to his selfless nature, sacrificed his own safety to help a friend in need. Unfortunately, his brave actions led to his untimely passing. He leaves behind a loving family, including his girlfriend Alyssa, his brothers Evan, Ben, Kaleb, and Joseph, and his sisters Annabelle, Maddison, and Kennedy. Brendan’s legacy is one of kindness, courage, and an unyielding love for life.

The fundraiser, organized by Katie Zess and Jessica Burke, aims to alleviate the financial burden on Brendan’s parents during this unimaginably difficult time. The community has already begun to show its support, with individuals like Rosann Berger, Jennifer George, and David Zess contributing to the cause.

As the community mourns the loss of Brendan Wilson, they also come together to honor his memory and support his family in their time of need. The collective effort reflects the deep impact Brendan had on those around him and the strength of the bonds he formed in his short but meaningful life.
