Community Unites in Search for Missing Lawrence County Resident Gregory D. Varnado

Lawrence County, Mississippi – The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office has issued a Silver Alert for Gregory Donell Varnado, a 42-year-old resident who has been missing since August 14, 2024. Varnado, who suffers from a condition that may impair his judgment and has diabetes, was last seen driving a blue 2020 Chevrolet Equinox with Mississippi license plate 114 LWA.

Authorities are urging the public to assist in locating Varnado, as efforts to contact him have been unsuccessful. His phone has been turned off, and attempts to track his vehicle via OnStar have not yielded results. The search for Varnado has gained momentum, with his personal and vehicle information now listed on the NCIC national law enforcement terminal, ensuring that law enforcement agencies will be alerted if his vehicle is identified.

The community has responded with an outpouring of support, with numerous residents sharing prayers and hopeful messages on social media. Ryan Everett shared an update on Facebook, noting the Silver Alert and the ongoing efforts to locate Varnado. "We have attempted to ping his phone, but the phone is off," Everett mentioned, highlighting the challenges faced by those searching for him.

Many others have joined in expressing their concern and prayers for Varnado’s safe return. Christina Vincent simply wrote, "Prayers," while Debbie McKneely echoed the sentiment, saying, "Praying for Gregory’s safe return." The collective hope is that Varnado will be found soon and reunited with his loved ones.

Varnado is not suspected of any criminal activity; the priority is ensuring his safety and well-being.
