Community Urged to Help Locate Wayne Bernard Jennings, a Missing Endangered Man in Newport News

Newport News, Virginia – Authorities are urgently seeking the public’s assistance in locating Wayne Bernard Jennings, a 60-year-old man who went missing on August 13, 2024. The Newport News Police Department issued a statement detailing that Jennings was last seen around 6:30 am near Anne Drive, wearing a gray t-shirt and tan sweatpants.

Wayne Jennings is described as a 6’2” black male, weighing approximately 200 pounds. Due to a medical condition, Jennings is considered endangered, and his safe return is a matter of significant concern for his family and the community.

The Newport News Police Department has asked anyone who sees Mr. Jennings or has information regarding his whereabouts to contact 911 or Newport News Emergency Communications at 757–247–2500 immediately.

In response to this situation, several community members have expressed their concern on Facebook. The Newport News Police Department also shared the details of the missing person alert on their social media platforms, urging people to spread the word and help locate Jennings quickly.

Local residents have been sharing their thoughts and prayers online, hoping for his safe return. One Facebook user shared, "Praying for Mr. Jennings’ safe return. Please, everyone, keep an eye out for him." Another commented, "Our community needs to come together to help find Wayne. Time is crucial."
