West Plains, Missouri – The Howell County Sheriff’s Office issued an endangered person advisory for 17-year-old Abigail Lawless after she was reported missing from her home at 10807 County Road 9470 at midnight on Saturday, August 17th, 2024. Lawless, who is on the autism spectrum and is legally blind without her glasses, left a note indicating she believed she was better off living on her own. Authorities believe she may be heading to Virginia with someone she met online, though the vehicle she is traveling in remains unknown.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is actively involved in the search, urging anyone with information on Abigail’s whereabouts to contact the Howell County Sheriff’s Office at 417-256-2544. The community is rallying in support of Abigail, with many taking to social media to share their concerns and prayers for her safe return.
Several Facebook users have expressed their worries and offered prayers. Paula Voytko-Cole wrote, “Praying she is found or returns home,” while Tina Farley Eader-Kelly added, “Shared & Prayer’s.” April Mellott, who shared the post in Spotsylvania County and Fredericksburg, Virginia, commented, “Prayers for her safe return.”
