Otjimbingwe, Namibia – The search for 50-year-old Lukas Junias continues after he went missing on Monday, August 12, from the farm Schlesien-Noord in the Namib Naukluft area, approximately 78 kilometers southeast of Otjimbingwe. Junias, who has no cell phone on him, was last seen wearing a white and red shirt, a brown jacket, brown shoes, and grey trousers.
Authorities have described Junias as short, with a slender build, and black in complexion. The local police have urged anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact Warrant Officer Naftal Mwatile or the nearest police station.
The disappearance has sparked concern across social media, with many individuals expressing their hopes for Junias’s safe return. "I pray he returns safe," wrote Jacky Tibinyane, echoing the sentiments of many who are anxiously awaiting news. Klemensia Kandenge shared, "May God protect him from evil," reflecting the deep worry felt by the community.
Others have voiced frustration over the situation, with Andreas Damoron Kweyo asking, "Can the chopper that finds tourists go search for him?" highlighting the perceived disparity in resources allocated for different search efforts.
The ongoing situation has also sparked broader discussions about safety in the region. Ajofe Enabo commented on the increasing rate of crime in Namibia, expressing concern over the country’s rising incidents of violence and disappearances.
