Clintwood, Virginia – Danny Edward Hess, a cherished member of the Clintwood community, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2024, at Norton Community Hospital. He was 76 years old.
Born on December 8, 1947, in Clintwood, VA, Danny lived a life marked by dedication to his family, faith, and country. He was a member of Fleming Town Freewill Baptist Church and proudly served in the United States Air Force. Professionally, Danny was known for his years of hard work in the coal mines, from which he retired from Cumberland Resources.
Danny’s family includes his devoted wife of 56 years, Mary Hess; his sons, Danny Charles Hess and Brian Hess; and his beloved grandchildren, Hannah Berry, Isaac Hess, Lucas Hess, Drew Tipton, and Chloe Tipton. He is also survived by his brothers Garry Farmer, Matthew Hess, and Jake Hess, and his sisters Ava Adams and Louise Owens.
He was preceded in death by his son Larry Hess, his parents Faye Farmer and James A. Hess, and several siblings.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, starting at 6:00 p.m. at Mullins Funeral Home Chapel, with a service at 7:00 p.m. The funeral will take place on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Phipps Cemetery in Clintwood, VA.
