Jacksonville, Florida – Daron Preston Horne, a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, passed away at the age of 66 on Friday, August 23, 2024. His passing took place at his home, leaving behind a community that knew him for his warmth, dedication, and love for family.
Born on May 26, 1958, Daron was the beloved son of the late Earl Douglas Horne, Sr. and Ella Mae Ellison Horne. Throughout his life, Daron was deeply connected to Duval County, where he was widely respected for his work and his kind-hearted nature.
Daron had a successful career in furniture sales, owning and operating his own company. His commitment to excellence and his integrity earned him a solid reputation in the business. Outside of work, he was passionate about his family, his pets, and his favorite sports team, the Florida Gators. His dogs, Fudge and Apollo, were like family to him, and he cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.
Daron is survived by Ester Gonzalez, the mother of his two daughters, Sharla and Shenae. He also leaves behind his sons, Jaron and Preston; his brothers, Earl Douglas Horne, Jr. and David Michael Horne; his sisters, Sharon Brunson and Sheila Mills; and six grandchildren. His extended family and friends will remember him for his kindness and the love he shared with all.
A graveside service to celebrate Daron’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Edgewood Cemetery in Jacksonville. The service will be led by Mr. Glenn Ellison. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Daron’s memory to the Jacksonville Humane Society or Fur Sisters to Adopt a Pet, both of which were causes close to his heart.

I wasn’t ready to lose you but God said it’s time to come home. I will miss you Daron so much."
