David Gagné, Northford Resident and BMX Legend, Dies in Branford Motorcycle Crash

Branford, Connecticut – David Gagné, a well-known figure in the BMX community and an accomplished artist, tragically passed away following a motorcycle accident in Branford on Thursday, August 15, 2024. The incident occurred around 6:37 p.m. on East Main Street near Windmill Hill Road. Gagné, a resident of Northford, was struck by a vehicle while riding his motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Branford Police Department is actively investigating the collision, with the South Central Regional Traffic Team leading the inquiry. Lt. Corrianne Carangelo confirmed that major injuries were reported in the accident.

David Gagné was not only a passionate motorcyclist but also a dedicated partner to his wife, Anatar Marmol-Gagné. His contributions to the BMX world, as well as his work in photography and sculpture, have left a lasting impact on those who knew him.

Kirk Ceballos, a close friend, shared his thoughts on Facebook, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of Gagné. He described him as "one of the nicest and most talented humans" and a "literal BMX legend." Ceballos also highlighted Gagné’s work in documenting the hardcore punk scene through photography and his skill in creating art, which was displayed in prestigious venues such as Yale Art Galleries.

Another friend, Jason Shorey, remembered Gagné for his unique talent and the time they spent together. He recalled their shared experiences in the BMX community and at hardcore shows, emphasizing the profound influence Gagné had on those around him.

The community is mourning the loss of a man who lived life to the fullest and left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Funeral arrangements for David Gagné will be announced by his family.
