Diana Sue Monier of Mamou, LA, Passes Away Peacefully at 71, Leaving a Legacy of Love and Dedication

Mamou, Louisiana – The community is mourning the loss of Diana Sue Monier, affectionately known as Sue, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the age of 71. Her passing marks the end of a life dedicated to teaching, family, and community.

Born on March 11, 1953, in Mamou, Sue’s life was characterized by her gentle spirit and her unwavering commitment to nurturing those around her. Her career as a teacher was more than a job; it was her calling. Sue’s empathetic approach and natural ability to connect with children left a lasting impact on her students, many of whom remember her fondly for the warmth and understanding she brought to the classroom.

Sue’s love extended beyond her professional life. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as family beach outings. Her family was her greatest pride, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Sue is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, David Monier; her son, Nicholas "Nick" Monier, and his wife, Brittany; and her four grandchildren, Carter Lafleur Monier, Aleena Faith Monier, Paxton Joseph Monier, and Vandi Jane Monier. She is also remembered by her siblings and extended family, including her sisters Glenda Deville Ardoin and Joyce Deville Dupre, and her brothers Rodney Deville, Alexandre Deville Jr., and Ricky Deville.

The community has been sharing their condolences and memories on social media. Kim Poret Cloud shared, "Prayers to David, Nick, and family. Such a sweet woman." Susan Ross Higginbotham echoed these sentiments, stating, "So very sorry. She was a sweet & loving person."

Visitation for Diana Sue Monier will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Thursday, August 15, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Rosary service at 6:00 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, followed by burial at Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

Sue’s legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to her family and community will be cherished by all who knew her.
