Dr. Cheryl Paradis-Fiedler of Elgin, Illinois, Passes Away at 57 Due to Rare Cancer Complications

Elgin, Illinois – Dr. Cheryl Paradis-Fiedler, an esteemed OBGYN physician and cherished community member, passed away on August 19, 2024, at the age of 57. Her death followed complications from a rare and aggressive form of Cutaneous T cell Lymphoma (CTCL), marking the end of a life dedicated to her family, medicine, and community service.

Born on December 26, 1966, in Chicago, Illinois, Dr. Paradis-Fiedler grew up in Downers Grove, where she attended Downers Grove South High School. She later pursued higher education at Loyola University Chicago, graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree. Her commitment to academic excellence continued at Loyola Stritch School of Medicine, where she earned her Doctor of Medicine degree and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.

Dr. Paradis-Fiedler’s professional journey was marked by her dedication and skill. She began her career at Fox Valley Women’s Healthcare, which later became part of the Midwest Center for Women’s HealthCare (MCWHC). Known for her exceptional surgical skills and compassionate approach, she quickly became a respected member of the medical community. She held several leadership roles, including serving on the ethics committee and as chief of the OB/GYN department, contributing significantly to the growth and success of MCWHC.

Beyond her medical career, Dr. Paradis-Fiedler was deeply committed to her family. She was a devoted mother to her two sons, JT and Nate, and a loving wife to her husband, Dr. John Fiedler. Her vibrant personality and love for life were evident in her many interests, including reading, traveling, and spending time with friends. She particularly enjoyed Friday Afternoon Happy Hours during the pandemic, which became a highlight of her social life.

Dr. Paradis-Fiedler’s battle with CTCL was met with courage and resilience. She underwent a successful stem cell transplant in May 2024, with a donation from her sister, Pam. However, complications from a severe infection during her recovery ultimately led to her passing. Throughout her illness, she remained grateful for the unwavering support of her family and friends.

Dr. Cheryl Paradis-Fiedler is survived by her husband, John; her sons, JT and Nate; her father, Hal Paradis; her sister, Pam Beyer; and her brother, Todd Paradis, among others. Her legacy will be remembered by the countless patients and colleagues whose lives she touched.
