Dr. Mark Price, Esteemed New England Patriots Team Physician and Navy Veteran, Passes Away in Boston

Boston, MA – The New England Patriots and the broader community are mourning the loss of Dr. Mark Price, who passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Dr. Price served as the head team physician and medical director for the Patriots since 2016, bringing unparalleled expertise and dedication to the team. Beyond his medical contributions, he was also a U.S. Navy Reserves captain and was honored with a Bronze Star Medal for his service in combat operations in Afghanistan.

The New England Patriots expressed their deep sadness over his passing in a heartfelt message: “Dr. Price became the Patriots head team physician and medical director in 2016 and passed away battling cancer. He not only served the Patriots but also served as a patriot as a captain in the U.S. Navy Reserves.”

Dr. Price’s impact extended beyond the field, with many in the community and those he treated expressing their condolences on social media. Abraham Gabriel Slade shared, “Thank you for your service and all of your hard work, commitment, and dedication that you have in your lifetime. You will always be remembered as a hero. R.I.P Dr. Price.”

Aimee Nichols, one of his former patients, posted, “Nooooooo! He did my shoulder surgery! Great guy!!!! Rest in Peace, Dr. Price.” Others echoed similar sentiments, with Scott O’Connor lamenting, "So young. Very sad to hear it! May he rest in peace."

Dr. Price was also a distinguished orthopedic surgeon at Mass General Brigham Sports Medicine and a Harvard Medical School graduate, reflecting his deep commitment to advancing the field of sports medicine. His loss is felt not only by the Patriots and his patients but by all who knew him. The community continues to express their grief and appreciation for his life’s work and service.
