Dundee, Scotland – Dundee Football Club is mourning the loss of Chris Gaffney, a valued member of the stadium team at Dens Park. Chris, aged 65, passed away following a short illness, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service to the club he had cherished since childhood.
Chris Gaffney, a qualified engineer, began his career with Bonar Long in August 1975. He later worked for Mitie Facilities Management before joining Dundee Football Club in 2020. A lifelong supporter of the club, Chris’s enthusiasm for football was evident from his early years, playing for the school team at Craigie High and later for various amateur football teams in Dundee.
Throughout his time at Dens Park, Chris was known for his willingness to help both staff and supporters in any way he could. His dedication made him a beloved figure at the club, where his absence will be deeply felt.
Chris is survived by his wife, Cordelia, and daughter, Tegan. The thoughts of everyone at Dundee Football Club, along with those of his wider family and friends, are with them during this difficult time.
The club has announced plans to honor Chris Gaffney at their home match against St Mirren on Saturday, August 31. This tribute will serve as a testament to the impact Chris had on the community and his love for Dundee Football Club.

Chris Gaffney’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 3, at The Quay in Dundee. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations to Ward 32 or Macmillan, honoring Chris’s memory and the care he received.
