East Hampton Community Grieves the Loss of 81-Year-Old Salvatore Ciurcina Following Tragic Collision

East Hampton, Connecticut – The East Hampton community is mourning the loss of Salvatore Ciurcina, an 81-year-old resident who tragically lost his life in a two-vehicle collision on Thursday afternoon. The accident occurred at approximately 3:27 p.m. on East High Street, near the well-known Paul & Sandy’s garden center, a local spot recognized for its annual “Pumpkintown USA” event.

Salvatore Ciurcina was driving a van that collided with a pickup truck towing a trailer. The force of the impact critically injured Ciurcina, who was rushed to Hartford Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities have confirmed that both a passenger in Ciurcina’s van and the driver of the pickup truck sustained injuries, though fortunately, these were reported as non-life-threatening.

Emergency services, including the East Hampton Police Department, Fire Department, and Ambulance Association, responded promptly to the scene. Although LifeStar was dispatched, adverse weather conditions in the region prevented the medical helicopter from taking flight.

The East Hampton Police Department, led by Chief Dennis Woessner, has launched a thorough investigation into the incident. The department’s accident reconstruction team is working diligently to determine the cause of the collision. Chief Woessner has called on anyone with information about the accident to contact the police department at 860-267-9544.

On social media, community members have expressed their grief and condolences for Ciurcina and his family. Laura Allegretti Goldner commented, "Oh no, that’s terrible. Sending prayers to his family. How awful." Helena Gatto-Supino added, "My heartfelt prayers for his family," while Stacey Chaloux shared, "Prayers to the family!"

As the investigation continues, the East Hampton community reflects on the life of Salvatore Ciurcina, a longtime resident who will be deeply missed. Further updates regarding the investigation and the conditions of the other individuals involved are expected in the coming days.
