Lusaka, Zambia – Esther Chanda Mucheka, a 15-year-old student from Roma Girls Secondary School, who was reported missing on Saturday, has been found alive. Esther was last seen on Sunday morning at the Chaisa bus stop, where she was sent to buy bread but never returned home.
The young girl was wearing gray cargo pants and a maroon jumper when she disappeared. Concerned family members and friends quickly issued a missing person alert, urging the community to help locate her.
Esther was discovered this morning in Emmasdale, near the Blessing Center, by a good Samaritan. According to Esther, she was dragged by an unknown person to a location referred to as "22 miles" but cannot clearly remember how she ended up in Emmasdale.
Family members, including her aunt, report that Esther appears visibly sick and unwell. She has been taken to a hospital for medical evaluation.
On Facebook, several individuals shared their relief at Esther’s return. Sepiso Lee Annie posted, “She’s been found,” while Stembile Mutiyabo Katongo commented, “She has been found I saw a post.” Brenda Simaunda Mutokoma also confirmed, “She’s been found.”
As the community expresses gratitude for Esther’s safe return, concerns have been raised about the safety of young children, particularly when traveling alone. Authorities and family members are urging people to take precautions to protect children, especially during nighttime hours.
If anyone has additional information about Esther’s experience or other similar incidents, they are encouraged to contact the local police.
