Fairbanks Authorities Seek Public Assistance in Locating Douglas Felix Following Chena River Incident

Fairbanks, Alaska – The Fairbanks Police Department is urgently seeking the public’s help in locating Douglas Felix, who was reported missing after a concerning incident in the early hours of Monday, August 19, 2024. At approximately 12:50 a.m., police received a report that an individual had jumped into the Chena River from the footbridge in downtown Fairbanks.

Emergency services, including the Fairbanks Fire Department, responded to the scene but were unable to locate anyone in the water. There have been unconfirmed reports suggesting that the person who jumped might have been Douglas Felix and that he may have gotten out of the river alive. However, these reports have not yet been verified.

The situation has prompted a wave of concern on social media. Many community members have expressed their worries and prayers for Douglas’s safety. Rose Albert shared, "Praying that he is found alive. This is so heartbreaking." Similarly, Teddy Aceves commented on the dangers associated with the river, stating, "Lots of people jump in that river and perish… the city should put signs up on every bridge that states death is extremely likely if they jump off."
