Fairfield, Pennsylvania – The Fairfield community is in mourning after the tragic loss of Jocelyn Megee, a beloved local resident, who died in a fatal car crash on Route 16 near Waynesboro Pike. The accident occurred on Monday evening at approximately 7:08 p.m., just a short distance from her home.
According to Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Gettysburg, the 2014 Jeep Cherokee that Jocelyn was driving westbound lost control due to heavy rain, causing the vehicle to veer off the road, strike an embankment, and flip onto its driver’s side. The Jeep then slid into the opposite lane, where it was struck head-on by a 2020 Volvo tractor-trailer traveling eastbound. Jocelyn was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 44-year-old man from Hagerstown, Maryland, was not injured in the crash. Both Jocelyn and the trucker were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision, which authorities believe helped prevent further injuries. Route 16 was closed for several hours following the accident, reopening just after 11 p.m.
